What You Need to Do Should a Veneer Break

Veneers provide a beautiful look when you smile. When the teeth are cracked, chipped, discolored or have any other issue, then a veneer can work to hide this issue.

They are beautiful and can last a long time, but they are prone to breaking. It is important that if it does break, you do call our office to speak with one of our professionals to find out the best course of action to take. It is important that you keep the veneer away from further damage by following all of the instructions that are given by our office.

What to Do in Case of a Veneer Break

When a veneer breaks, make sure to follow these instructions to ensure that you don’t compromise the veneer or your tooth. Collect the pieces of the missing veneer so that you can bring them with you to our office to have the tooth fixed. You want to always call our office as soon as it happens to get the next available appointment.

If the veneer or tooth is sharp in your mouth where it broke off, grab dental wax and place it over the sharpness on the tooth. This will protect your gum, tongue and inside of your mouth from being stabbed with the sharp edge. This can also help if the tooth is very sensitive because the veneer is no longer providing the protection that the tooth once had.

In most cases the veneer will come off as a whole in one swoop movement. This means that putting it back on can be easily done.
