What Stains Dental Bonding?

July 25, 2019 |

Dental bonding is a great procedure for those that are feeling less than positive about their smile. We provide this procedure to help those that want to have a beautiful smile and change the shape, look, color or other features of their teeth.

However, the things that you eat and drink can cause problems with the bonding that is placed on them. Here are some of the things you can expect will stain your bonded teeth, so you can take note and stay away from them.

What Items Cause Staining on Dental Bonding

Between both drinks and food that you eat, few items are safe because most can stain your teeth to some degree. Many of the items that would normally stain regular teeth will also stain your bonding.

Some drinks such as wine, coffee, and teas should be enjoyed through a straw to minimize the staining that happens on the outside of the teeth. Additionally, smoking should be refrained from as well, as this stains teeth and dental bonding.

Fruit that is rich in color, like strawberries, blueberries, blackberries, and those types of fruits, can also stain the teeth. The juice in them is strong. The same goes for drinking the juice, such as grape juice, which is very staining. Drinking this through a straw is recommended by our dentists.

If you do eat something that is staining, make sure to rinse your mouth out thoroughly with water right after. This will help to reduce the staining and remove some of what is left on the teeth.

If the bonding on the teeth is severely stained, give us a call and we would be more than happy to discuss what you can do to get your smile back. We do strongly recommend that you stay away from the above-mentioned items, though, as they can cause staining and this is not something you want. Call us today to schedule an appointment to come in and be seen by one of our dentists.
