Dental Crowns, Veneers & Bridges
Dental crowns, or caps, are non-removable casings that cover your natural tooth. When damage occurs through decay or trauma, crowns are applied to protect teeth, restoring strength, form and function.
There are several types of dental crowns including state-of-the-art ceramic restorations and porcelain. Ceramic and porcelain caps create a natural looking appearance and are often used for cosmetic enhancement.
Bridges are non-removable restorations that replace one or more missing teeth. Not only do bridges fill in the gaps to give you a beautiful smile, they work to alleviate the potential for other complications. If left unfilled, spaces can cause surrounding teeth to shift out of position, become susceptible to tooth decay, gum disease and future loss. Fixed bridges are also used to correct an altered bite, improve chewing ability, speech and prevent the collapse of facial features that can lead to premature wrinkles.

Frequently Answered Questions
And little-known facts
Do I still need my teeth cleaned?
It is very important to continue to have your teeth cleaned on a regular basis to ensure that the tooth holding the crown in place does not fail.
Do you use the goopy stuff for impressions?
We have embraced new technology to put the “goopy stuff” in the past. These technology uses a small camera that is held in your mouth. We can produce very accurate crowns using this technology. In some cases we still need to use the traditional impression materials.
Will the crown match my natural teeth and other crowns?
Matching a single crown to existing teeth can be a challenge, but we are up to the challenge. We use digital technologies to match crowns to teeth.
How will I know if I like the crown before it is made?
Our emphasis is on planning to satisfy your expectations. We frequently do a “five-minute-make-over” so that you can see what the teeth will look like before we begin the work. Also the temporary crowns are made to approximate the crowns.
What type of crown is right for me?
When choosing which type of crown is most suitable, it’s important to keep the desired result of each patient in mind. For example, while metal crowns are most durable, ceramic and porcelain caps create a more natural-looking appearance. Therefore if you are seeking the best aesthetic outcome, we would normally recommend porcelain be used for cosmetic enhancement. During your consultation, all this and more would be taken into account before a final decision is reached.
